May is Better Hearing Month

Did you know nearly 40 million Americans of all ages report having some degree of hearing loss? It can take years for someone to recognize that they have a hearing loss because it comes on so gradually and there is no physical pain associated with it.

Hearing loss symptoms can include:

• Hearing people talking but having trouble understanding their words
• Turning up the television volume so high it disturbs your spouse or family members
• People seeming to mumble when they speak, especially in busy restaurants

If these symptoms sound familiar, you might have a hearing loss but know that you're not alone.

Admitting that your hearing isn't what is used to be is an important first step. Next, set up an appointment with us to get a free and easy hearing evaluation. You can contact us at (919) 813-7694 or fill out our contact us form on the left and we'll help you along this journey.

Hearing Loss Myth:  My family doctor would have told me if I had a hearing loss.

Not necessarily! Only 14% of physicians screen for hearing loss during a routine physical. Also, doctor’s offices are typically quiet environments so it would be very difficult for your physician to recognize the extent of your problem.
